[Class 44.] A safety-chain device for windows comprises a pair of slotted plates, Figs. 1 and 2, one of which is secured to the sash and the other to the frame, and a chain, Fig. 3, adapted to engage the slots, the chain being adjustable to either of two positions, indicated by dotted lines, in one of which it holds the window closed, and in the other allows limited opening.
