Abstract

In an improvement in the process described in the parent Specification for the production of low-carbon alloys by refining with oxides in hydrogen or in an atmosphere containing a high percentage of hydrogen such as water gas, the refining treatment is carried out at temperatures between 1750 and 2300 DEG C., the temperature employed depending on the content of difficulty reducible metal in the final alloy.
