Abstract

In a modification of the process described in the parent Specification, metals and alloys such as steel, iron, copper and its alloys or aluminium are treated with a modifying substance comprising one or more of the following elements, viz. zinc, copper, boron, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, aluminium, silica, manganese, tin and carbon or nitrogen containing substance, other than gases, at a moderate temperature, far below the melting point of the metal &c. treated. The modifying substances may have a melting point higher than the temperature at which the process is carried out and may be in the form of fine powder in which the iron &c. is embedded.
