Abstract
128,876. Dendrinos, A. A. Feb. 26, 1919. Hardening; tempering.-Iron, steel, and other metals or metal articles such as tools are protected from oxidation while heated to a high temperature for tempering, hardening, and quenching, by a coating of oxalates, preferably of alkaline earth metals, the oxalates being applied in the form of a powder, paste, in solution, suspension, or melt. The oxalates may be used alone or mixed with deoxidizing materials such as aluminium, graphite, charcoal, or the like.
