Abstract

An iron-aluminium alloy particularly suitable for making retorts &c. for use in contact with sulphurous furnace gases consists of about 75 per cent of iron and about 25 per cent of aluminium, and may be made by melting aluminium with iron containing less than 0,1 per cent of carbon, thoroughly mixing, and then further heating the melt to about 1600 DEG C.
