Abstract
Metal powder is obtained by subjecting a lead alloy to a powdering process while it is at a temperature within its melting range. The alloy may contain 45-50 per cent of lead, 16-30 per cent of tin, and 20-30 per cent of cadmium, with or without up to 5 per cent of bismuth. Powdering may be effected by shaking the alloy in a tray or pounding it in a mortar while it solidifies, or the alloy may be treated in a heated disintegrator of the impeller type. A small quantity of graphite may be added to prevent coalescence of the particles. Specifications 158,740 and 226,286, [both in Class 82 (ii)], are referred to.
