Abstract
Metal articles composed of two or more metals are made by compressing and heating metal powder particles coated with a metal of higher melting point than the metal of the core, the metals being such as do not readily alloy with each other in all proportions, for example lead particles coated with copper. Sintering of the mass may be effected at a temperature between the melting points of the two metals. Copper-coated lead powder, prepared by electrolysis or by stirring lead powder in a solution of copper acetate, may be pressed in a mould and sintered, and the product, which may for example contain 45 per cent of lead and 55 per cent of copper, may be cold rolled for the production of bearings or other articles. Specification 441,177 is referred to.ALSO:Metal articles composed of two or more metals are made by compressing and heating metal powder particles coated with a metal of higher melting point than the metal of the core, the metals being such as do not readily alloy with each other in all proportions, for example lead particles coated with copper.
