Abstract

An alloy having good antifrictional properties contains 62 per cent of copper, 30 per cent of zinc, 4 per cent of tin, 2,5 per cent of lead and 1,5 per cent of nickel and has a structure consisting of solid solution and eutectoid. It may be heat treated by any known tempering, quenching or quenching and tempering process. An alloy of copper with 13,9 26,8 per cent of tin is also referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises an alloy which contains in addition to copper and the usual impurities, 15-50 per cent of zinc and not more than 8 per cent of tin to which may be added any or all of the following: up to 7,5 per cent of aluminium, iron, manganese, nickel and antimony; up to 15 per cent of lead, and up to 5 per cent of silicon. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
