Abstract

A cast-iron alloy contains 0,2-2 per cent of copper, 0,25-2 per cent of nickel, and 0,25-2,75 per cent of molybdenum, with or without 0,8-2,5 per cent of manganese. The carbon content may be 2,7-3,5 per cent, and there may be present also 1-2,5 per cent of silicon, up to 0,15 per cent of sulphur, and up to 1 per cent of phosphorus. The alloy may be hardened in air or by quenching in oil or water from 780 DEG C.
