Abstract
423,003. Centrifugal separators. MAZZA, E., 8, Via Santa Giulia, Turin, Italy. May 4, 1934, No. 13540. Convention date, May 5, 1933. [Class 23] An apparatus for separating gaseous mixtures comprises a rotating annular container divided by curved partitions 8 into compartments into which the gas is impelled by a fan 18 by way of a central duct 9 and openings 10. Each compartment is divided into two sections 15, 16 by a partition consisting of a row of columns 13, the openings between which are substantially radial in direction in their inner parts a and are flared to collect the gases in their outer parts b. The lighter gases pass through these openings into the sections 16 which have exits 11 situated at the upper edge of their periphery, while the heavier gases pass through ports 12 at the lower edge of the sections 15. The apparatus may be modified to divide the gas into more than two fractions. The rotating parts are balanced by a fly-wheel 24 so that the centre of gravity is in the plane of the bearing 7.
