Abstract

479,007. Centrifugal separators. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR. Aug. 3, 1937, No. 21397. Convention date, Aug. 25, 1936. [Class 23] Separated liquid is discharged from a centrifugal machine through a paring member 3 which projects into the rotating liquid in the chamber 4 in the neck of the bowl 1. This chamber is sealed against the admission of air by means of discs 5, 7 carried by the paring member. They may enter the liquid in the paring chamber 4, or as shown in Fig. 1, they may enter the liquid in chambers 6, 8 above and below the paring chamber. The liquid from the bowl rises through the apertures 10, 11, 12 to the chambers 8, 4, 6, and a radial air channel 9 is provided in the lower wall of the chamber 8. Any air present in the bowl at starting, is sucked out with the discharging liquid, and the liquid surfaces round the disc 3 will then be nearer to the axis than the surfaces at the outer sides of the discs 5, 7. In a modification, liquid is conducted from the paring discharge member 3 through apertures 18, 19, Fig. 2, to the sealing chambers 14, 15.
