Abstract
434,008. Centrifugal separators. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR, 8, Fleming- gatan, Stockholm. Feb. 18, 1935, No. 5179. Convention date, Feb. 17, 1934. [Class 23] An arrangement for the closed supply of liquid to a centrifugal separator through the hollow spindle 1 of the bowl, consists of a chamber 3 which is entered by the small end 2 of the hollow spindle, around which packing 4, preferably elastic, is placed. A nozzle 5 crosses the chamber and enters the hollow spindle. Liquid is supplied to the nozzle under pressure so that it is discharged at a high velocity into the widening bore of the spindle where velocity is converted into pressure. The pressure on the packing is thus maintained at a low value. In a modification the nozzle terminates a short distance from the end 2 of the spindle and the liquid is thrown as a free jet into the bore of the spindle.
