Abstract

902,303. Centrifugal separators. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd., and BOYLAND, D. A. July 14, 1948 [July 23, 1947], No. 19732/47. Class 23. A separator has a collecting chamber 15 connected with the interior of the rotor, an injector jet 16 being arranged to extract fluid from the chamber. In a separator having a separating chamber according to Specification 902,301, a gaseous lighter fraction passes into an annular collecting chamber 15 through passages 14. Extraction fluid from a passage 18 in the rotor drive shaft, or the rotor damping spigot, passes through passages 17 to the jets 16, and a mixture of the lighter fraction and extraction fluid flows through passages 20 for discharge from the rotor by a passage 21. The invention may be applied to discharge both the heavier and lighter fraction of a fluid.
