Abstract
480,659. Centrifugal separators. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR. Oct. 18, 1937, No. 28299. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1936. [Class 23] A centrifugal separator has a stationary paring device 1 for the discharge of the lighter liquid separated in the bowl 4; the outlet 8 for the heavier liquid is open and is positioned outside the paring device in the axial direction. The light liquid passes from the bowl 4 through openings 3 in a removable member 11 to the paring chamber 2 which rotates with the bowl. It then passes through channels in the paring member to a channel 13 in the cover which also contains the feed channel 14. Channels 12 in the paring member inside the liquid level permit air to pass from one side of the disc to the other. The heavier liquid passes from the bowl through channels 5, past the paring chamber, to the chamber 6 from which it discharges over the rim 8 of the exchangeable disc 7 into a chamber between the hood 9 and the lid 10. The disc 7 may be vaulted as shown in the left-hand side of the Figure, or flat as shown in the right-hand side. The upper wall of the chamber 2 may be extended so that any overflowing light liquid is discharged to a separate collecting vessel. The upper and inner parts of the bowl can be lifted by the screw 18 which enters the thread 19 and is attached to the lifter 17 which has a cupshaped part 21 or a number of arms to engage the bowl.
