Abstract

371,755. Centrifugal machines. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR, 8, Fleminggatan, Stockholm. Oct. 2, 1931, No. 27456. Convention date, Oct. 7, 1930. [Class 23.] Solids are continuously separated from liquids in a centrifugal bowl 1 and are carried by scraping worms 15, 16 towards the discharge openings 14 provided in the middle zone of the bowl. The bowl is so shaped that its inner diameter increases with decreasing distance from the outlet openings 14. The outer edges of the worms conform to the inner surfaces of the bowl, and a number of conical discs 7 are mounted on a central tube 8 inside the worms. Liquid for treatment is supplied to the central tube, and is deflected by the diaphragm 11 through the openings 12 so that the heaviest solids are separated immediately in front of the outlet openings 14. During the passage of the material through the nest of discs 7 the remaining solids are thrown to the walls of the bowl, and are carried by the worms 15, 16 to the outlets 14. After discharge from these outlets the solids are passed to the spout 20 by scrapers 19. Liquid is discharged from the spout 22. The outlets 14 are arranged in a peripheral groove 17 in which the sludge accumulates and is moved by scrapers 18 on the worms. A series of close conical discs may be arranged in front of the outlets 14 so .that as much as possible of the solid impurities may be separated there.
