Abstract

337,628. List, H. Nov. 22, 1929. Density separators.-A centrifugal separator drum 1 for clarifying liquids has a trap to prevent separated buoyant material from being discharged with the liquid. In the example shown the trap consists of two plates 7, 8 which partly overlap to form the annular discharge passage 11. The liquid for treatment enters the inlet 9, passes between the cover 2 and the distributing plate 10, and is subject to centrifugal treatment in the drum. The heavy material is thrown outwards to zone I, the light material is thrown to zone III, and only the purified liquid from zone II can pass through the discharge passage 11 to the outlet 12.
