Abstract
315,415. M³ller, I. I. July 13, 1928, [Convention date.] Gravity-separation apparatus. - Apparatus for separating oil and water comprises an outer casing 11 and an inner floating chamber 4. The mixed liquids pass through a grid 1 into a chamber 2, where solid matter is deposited, the liquids passing on through a valve 3 and liquid seal 6 and over the cover 5 of the chamber 4 to the annular space between the chamber 4 and the casing 11. The lighter liquid collects on the surface and passes into the chamber 4 through openings 7 in its upper edge, while the heavier liquid flows away through a channel 9 and outlet 10. When sufficient lighter liquid has accumulated in the chamber 4 this chamber falls and allows the valve 3 to close. The apparatus may be arranged so that the chamber 2 receives liquid from a number of channels.
