Abstract

229,647. Aktiebolaget Separator. Feb. 19, 1924, [Convention date]. Density separators. -A centrifugal bowl for the separation or purifying of liquids has liner discs, and a distributor C the base of which has two series of outlet openings. The inner openings F correspond to the openings in the liner discs and the mixture passes through them when the apparatus is employed for the separation of two liquids. In this case a top disc J with a neck is used, and the liquids are discharged through the openings K. L. The radial chamber P between the bowl casing and the distributor base has the effect of forcing most of the liquid to travel through the openings F. This chamber may have no vanes, or may have backwardly extending vanes. Where there is only one liquid to be discharged the top plate N with no neck is used as shown in the right-hand half of the Figure and the distributor base is rotated so that the openings F do not correspond with the holes in the liner discs. The mixture passes from the distributor into the bowl through the passages M and the purified liquid is discharged through the opening L.
