Abstract

229,284. Aktiebolaget Separator. Feb. 15, 1924, [Convention date]. Density separators. -A separator for liquids has two bottom discs, either of which is used according to the nature of the separation to be effected. Ordinary liner plates with perforations are employed for all operations. For the separation of liquids a top disc J with a neck, and a bottom disc P with perforations are employed as shown in the left-hand part of Fig. 2. The mixture enters by the tube B and passes under the distributor and through the passages F, M. The separated liquids are discharged through the openings K, L. Where there is only one liquid for continuous discharge, the arrangement shown on the right-hand side of Fig. 2 is used. The top disc N has no neck and the bottom disc R has no perforations. The slime collects in the space H and the liquid discharges through the opening L. In a modification, one bottom disc only is used. This is provided with perforations which in one position are adjacent the perforations in the liner discs, but in the alternative position are removed from them. Guides or ribs may ensure the correct situation of the disc.
