Abstract

253,917. Noess, H. June 18, 1925, [Convention date]. Cleaning drums.-The plate set 2 and the distributor 3 of a centrifugal separator are removed from the separator bowl for cleaning and are inserted in the bowl 4 which rotates with the spindle 1. The wall of the bowl 4 has slots 9, and the top piece of the separator, or the special top 5 shown, is secured to the bowl 4 by the nut 6. The cleaning medium is supplied through the hopper 7 and passes simultaneously through the distributor 3 and through the opening in the neck to the inner edges of the plates. It then passes between the plates and is expelled with the impurities through the slots 9. Instead of using a special cleaning bowl, the bowl of the separator may be slotted and used for cleaning. The slots are covered during separator working and uncovered for the cleaning operations.
