Abstract

729,767. Centrifugal separators. WATSON, LAIDLAW & CO., Ltd., and LAMONT, R. W. Sept. 24, 1953 [Aug. 6, 1952], No. 19769/52. Class 23. In a strainer separator in which the basket includes a frusto-conical part 11 means are provided for vibrating the basket-wall to loosen solid material adhering thereto. An electrical vibrator 14 mounted on a wheeled carriage 15 is brought into contact with the cylindrical part 12 of the basket by a manually operated linkage 17 ... 20. In a modification the linkage is electrically operated. In further modifications the vibration is caused by bringing spring-loaded rollers into engagement with cams attached to the cylindrical part 12 or the basket rim. The basket may be provided with discharge valves.
