Density separators. -The upper part of the hood B of a centrifugal separator contains one or more discharge chambers G, to each of which the heavier liquid is conducted through one or more tubes or closed passages F. These passages extend inwardly from holes in a baffle or sealing ring E, and the chambers G have bottoms H which prevent the heavy liquid from reaching the central part of the bowl. The upper ends of the chambers G may be open for the discharge of liquid, or discharge holes may be provided in the side walls of the chambers. The lighter liquid is discharged through a regulating screw J in a recess K in one of the chambers G. The inner side of the recess may be bounded by a wall L or the side walls may be continued to meet the wall of the distributor A. The screw J may be placed above or below the discharge point of the heavy liquid. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the passages F are made as channels in a solid plate E. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the modification shown in Figs. 6, 7 (Cancelled) in which separate channels G are provided in the neck of the hood B to receive the heavy liquid from the tubes F. Small drain channels S are arranged between the channels G and open into outlet holes T situated in the same plane as the regulating screw J. In the event of the lighter liquid leaking between the part H and the wall of the distributor A, it is discharged through the channels S. For the purpose of reducing weight, recesses are arranged between the channels G. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
