[Class 23.] In a centrifugal separator, for the continuous separation of liquids containing solid matter in suspension, the bowl 1 is so shaped that the separated solid matter slides down the wall 9 thereof to the openings 16 of radial channels 17 through which it is discharged with the heavier liquid, the channels being disposed horizontally in the base piece 2 so that no separation of the solid matter and heavier liquid takes place therein. The radial distances of the respective outlets 18, 19 for the lighter and heavier liquids from the axis of the separator are such that static equilibrium prevails between the separated liquids in the bowl.
