Abstract

315,007. Barlow, T. M., and Lyon, G. Jan. 5, 1928. Density separators.- A steam separator has tangential inlets into the chamber a where steam and water are separated centrifugally, and a deflector plate is arranged in the chamber so that finely divided water may settle thereon and drip into the body of the chamber. As shown in Fig. 1 the chamber a is cylindrical and the mixture enters by the inlets b near the top of the a chamber. The separated water falls to the outlet c and the steam passes out through the upper central outlet e which is surrounded by a substantially conical deflector plate d. Each inlet b has a masking plate f forming a continuation of the wall of the chamber a and extending over the rear half of the inlet opening. The Provisional Specification states that in a modification the rear and bottom walls of the chamber are flat. A curved perforated deflector plate is arranged in the chamber and the separated steam passes through the plate to the outlets arranged beneath.
