Abstract

897,255. Gravity-separation apparatus. DEUTSCHE WERFT A. G. July 17, 1959 [July 19, 1958], No. 24713/59. Class 46. Mixture fed in tangentially at 5 to a coarse separating chamber 3 flows in a spiral path and passes between pipes 15 and down through an opening in a collar 8 to a fine separating chamber 4 where the main flow is radially inwards and downwards between frusto-conical sheets 9 arranged on a perforated tube 10. Lighter liquid collects at 14 under partition 2 and collar 8 and reaches an outlet 17 via pipes 15. Heavier liquid is discharged from the bottom of tube 10. To ensure uniform feed to, and flow in, the spaces 11 between the sheets 9, the apertures in the tube 10 have increasing cross-section downwards.
