Abstract
469,542. Centrifugal separators. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. Feb. 9, 1937, No. 3814. Convention date, Feb. 14, 1936. [Class 23] A separator 1 for centrifugally separating liquid particles from gases or vapours has a tangential duct 2 through which the mixture is admitted to fill the space 3. A series of guide plate passages 4 causes the flow to be divided into a number of fine jets which lie next to one another on the drum wall and form a uniform stream rotating in a number of helices. The clean gas or vapour rises through the outlet 6, and the liquid discharges through diaphragm openings at the bottom of the separator or through the tangential outlet 7. The guide passages 4 may consist of rounded bores or short tubes.
