Abstract

455,845. Centrifugal machines. BERGES, A., Lorp, Ariege, France. March 16, 1936, No. 7894. Convention date, March 14, 1935. [Class 23] Apparatus for the purification of liquids, particularly paper pulp, has a fixed cylindrical container 1 with a lower conical extension 3 and upper extensions 2, 4 of conical and cylindrical forms. The top extension 4 carries a tangential inlet 5 and a conical collector 6 leading to the discharge pipe 7. The paper pulp, or other mixture, is supplied through the inlet 5 and rotates rapidly in the container. The heavy material is thrown to the wall and drops to the outlet 9 at the bottom of the extension 3. The lighter material remains suspended in the liquid and passes to the collector 6 and pipe 7. The clear liquid or pulp is ' discharged from the centre of the apparatus by the pipe 8. Superposed cones 10, 11, 12, 13 on a pipe 15 prevent heavy material from being carried in a liquid current to the pipe 8 and the pipe 15 ensures the cleanliness of the cones.
