Abstract

307,933. Aktiebolaget Separator. March 17, 1928, [Convention date]. Density separators.-Liquids are cleaned from solid impurities by passage through a centrifugal separator, and a concentrate rich in solid matter is fed into the bowl simultaneously with the liquid to be treated. The separator shown has two parts 1, 2 held together by a locking ring 3 to form the bowl; the parts 1, 2 are given a conical shape to cause the solids to slide towards the discharge openings 6. The liquid is supplied to the central tube 4 and the solids are discharged through the openings 6 while the clean liquid passes through the outlet 7. The concentrate for supply is obtained by leading part of the solids and liquid from the openings 6 through the pipe 9 back to the bowl. In a modified form the solids may be discharged through channels which have their outlet openings nearer to the axis of the bowl than their inlets. The rate of supply of the concentrate and of the liquid to be treated is varied as the quantity of solids discharged is varied.
