Abstract
348,806. Centrifugal machines. KAMMERL, H., 19A, Aachenerstrasse, D³ren, Rhineland, Germany. April 1, 1930, No. 10346. Convention date, Nov. 23, 1929. [Class 23.] Density separators.-A centrifugal clarifier is subdivided by rings, and the substances of high specific gravity are separated out and retained in the chambers formed by the rings while the substances of low specific gravity suspended in the liquid are projected over the edge of the centrifuge. The drum T shown comprises two stages separated by the ring r<1>, the upper stage being of greater diameter than the lower stage. The stages have expanded parts K, K<1> associated with the rings r<1>, r<2>, and an inverted channel ring J is arranged beneath the ring r<2> as shown. The material is supplied through the pipe E ; it passes down the central tube M and. is thrown to the wall of the drum, up which it rises until it passes over the ring r<1> and eventually reaches the ring r<2> As the operation proceeds sludge is deposited on the wall of the drum, the heaviest impurities being deposited in the expanded part K. Finer particles are deposited in the upper part of the drum and the liquid for discharge is forced to pass between the rings r<2>, J into a gutter R from which it escapes through the pipe A. The sludge is removed through the valve q, Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 220,139 and 233,608 [both in Class 23, Centrifugal machines &c.].
