Abstract

307,065. Bergedorfer Eisenwerk Akt.- Ges. March 2, 1928, [Convention date]. Density separators; discharging. - A centrifuge for the separation of solids from liquids has mechanical scraping means to transport separated solids to discharge openings in the bowl wall. The bowl 1 may be of cylindrical or conical form and is fed by the central tube 3. The clean liquid passes out through openings 4, while the solids are brought to the openings 5 by the helical conveyer 6 rotated by the shaft 7 at a rate different from that of the bowl. The openings 5 are arranged in an enlarged part of the bowl, and the conveyer 6 is provided with ribs or wings 12 running in the enlarged part. The discharge holes 5 are made conical as shown, or a thin plate with a small hole can be arranged at the inner side of the bowl wall in a larger opening. Where the solids may form large lumps, an addition liquid may be supplied through the pipes 8 to mix with the solids. In some cases this liquid may be supplied through openings in the conveyer.
