Abstract

894,417. Centrifugal separators. JAECKERING, H. [trading as ALTENBURGER MASCHINEN KOMM-GES. JAECKERING & CO.]. Jan. 27, 1960 [Jan. 28, 1959], No. 2891/60. Class 23. Apparatus for grading solids comprises two interconnected chambers in which the solids are whirled. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 arid 2 solids entrained in air are fed by an inlet 12 into the chamber 1, the heavier solids passing through an adjustable slot 3 into the second chamber 2 supplied with air by an inlet 13. The light and heavy fractions are respectively discharged from the chambers 1 and 2 by rotary valves. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 5 cyclone shaped chambers 17, 19, 20, 21 are combined with whirl chambers 16, 18. Air is supplied to the chambers 17, 19, 21 and the solids mixture entrained in air is supplied to the chamber 16. The heavier and lighter solids from the chamber 16 are respectively discharged into the chambers 17, 18, and the heavier and lighter solids from the chamber 18 are respectively discharged into the chambers 19, 20. Fractions are collected from the chambers 17, 19, 20, 21.
