Abstract

328,653. Simon, Ltd., H., and Watts, G. Feb. 2, 1929. Separators.-In a dust separator having a relatively large number of small diameter conical cyclones incorpoiated in one separator unit, the axes of the cyclones are horizontal or approximately so. The dust laden air is fed in at d, Fig. 1; the heavier solid matter falls to the bottom of compartment a and is removed by a screw i. The air enters the cyclone chambers by ports g. The dust is discharged through exits 7 into a chamber b and is removed by a screw m. A vertical chamber c receives the clean air through tubes h. The solid matter is removed by way of valves k and o. The pressures in the spaces b and c are substantially equal, this being secured by suitably proportioning the diameters of the exits 7 and the air discharge pipes h. Each cyclone f may deliver to a separate chamber.
