Density separators.-Centrifugal dust extractors have a number of conical cyclone separators incorporated in one unit, the arrangements being such that substantially equal pressures are maintained in the closed dust collecting chamber and in the space to which the clean air from the cyclones is delivered. The cyclones d are arranged in a chamber b between the clean gas chamber a and the dust chamber c. The dust laden gas enters the chamber b and passes tangentially into each cyclone by its inlet h; clean air passes into the chamber a, while the dust drops into the chamber c. The diameter of the clean gas outlet e of each cyclone and the diameter of the dust outlet 7 are fixed so that pressures in the chambers a, c are approximately equal. A lattice frame i is arranged in the chamber b to remove any dust which may settle in that chamber. The frame carries brackets n with pins m which travel up arms o and so lift the frame when it is moved in one direction, but pass under the arms o when the frame is moved in the other direction. During this latter movement the settled dust is conveyed to the outlet j and the conveyer k. A similar lattice frame t is arranged in the chamber c and it conveys the dust to the conveyer w. The frames i, t may be reciprocated by the. crank pin x, connecting rod y, and bell crank lever z.
