Abstract
200,380. Babcock & Wilcox, Ltd., (Babcock & Wilcox Co.). July 20, 1922. Dust-collectors.-In a dust-removing apparatus for a stack or the like, the gases are led to a vertical stack 10 by one or more substantially horizontal conduits 13<a>, 13<b> which are located above a normally closed dust-receiving bottom 23 having means, such as the valves 25, to discharge the dust. The gases are delivered tangentially within a cylindrical member A, closed at the bottom and open at the top, and comprising louvers 15. A conical member 19, which may have a grooved surface as shown, imparts an upward rotary motion to the gases. The dust separates from the gases in the space 18 between the louvers and the stack, and falls into the hopper 23. A second hopper may be arranged below the first, the discharging means of the two being interconnected so that when one is open the other is closed. The upper hopper is provided with explosion doors 34, which may also be provided in the lower hopper.
