Abstract

337,304. Oddie, W. M. Jan. 30, 1930. Filtering. - In a dust filter, having a cyclone settling chamber, over which are arranged the dust-bags, cones or plugs are provided which fall into the mouth of a bag and so intermittently interrupt the air supply and jar the bag to dislodge dust from the surface. The dust-bags 1, having tapering mouthpieces 8, are provided with conical valvepieces 10, suspended by the chains 11. When a dustbag is lowered by the chain 3, the plug 10 fits into the opening 8, thereby cutting- off the air supply to the bag. The initial shock dislodges sufficient dust to seal the opening completely by collecting round the plug 10. The remaining dust is displaced by shaking the dustbag 1, while in its collapsed condition, by means of the chains 3 and the cam 6 ; on extending the bag to its initial length, the dust falls into the chamber 9.
