Abstract

Pneumatic separating. -Grain cleaning apparatus comprises a nozzle a from which air is projected with high velocity into an aspirating cham. ber c and impinges on the conical lower end of a member e. The air with decreased velocity passes up the annular space between the member e and a concentric collector f and impinges on a second conical surface i of the member e passing upward, with further decrease of velocity, between this member and a second collector j. The grain is fed into the stream of air by the shoot b and carried up through the chamber c, the cleaned grain and the heavier impurities being collected in the members f, i and discharged by the shoots g, k respectively, and the lighter impurities being carried off by the air to any suitable dust collector. The upper ends of the chamber e and collector f may be flared as shown.
