422,943. Coking briquettes. SOC. DE CARBONISATION DE MOLIERES - SUR - CEZE, Molieres-sur-Ceze, Gard, France. March 1, 1934, No. 6581. Convention date, April 4, 1933. [Class 55 (i)] Fuel briquettes made from fine non-caking coal and a binder are heated up to about 600‹ C. while at rest to avoid fracture, whereupon they are transferred to a heating zone at between 700 and 900‹ C. These two heating stages may be carried out in a vertical intermittently operated retort, the walls of upper part a-b of which are heated by burners d to 700-800‹ C. and the walls of the lower part &-c to 850-1100‹ C. the time for the first or pre-coking stage being equal to that of the second stage, the charge remaining in each stage for about 1¢ hours.
