Abstract
282,511. Midland Coal Products, Ltd., and Ingman, C. Oct. 5, 1926. Coking and carbonizing processes.-Low grade gas produced in a primary coal or briquette carbonizing retort is utilized to, carbonize the charges in one or more secondary retorts, the gas being burned and the combustion products used to superheat steam which is passed through the secondary retorts. Two steam superheaters may be employed, which are heated alternately by the hot combustion products. The charge in the primary retort may be heated by partial combustion of the briquette charge as described in Specification 242,783. The Provisional Specification describes also a modified process in which the steam, passed into the secondary retorts may be in part or wholly replaced by the combustion products of the gas from the primary retort.
