Abstract
271,910. Piwowarsky, E. T. May 31, 1926, [Convention date]. Drawings to Specification. Cupola furnaces.-The hearth of a cupola furnace for producing iron poor in carbon, steel, &c., is initially charged with graphite in pieces, replacing wholly or partially the usual charge of heating coke. The hearth is of definitely conical shape, converging towards the bottom, so as to reduce the time of contact, of the molten charge with the graphite.
