421,299. Moulding toffee &c. in rollling- machines. FORGROVE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., and GROVER, F., 432, Dewsbury Road, Leeds. Oct. 6, 1933, No. 27541. [Class 87 (ii)] [See also Group VI] In machines for shaping, feeding, and cutting toffee and like confectionery, in which cooperating rollers shape the material into rope or bar form for severing into lengths for subsequent wrapping, the rollers b<1>, b<3> are adapted to form a permanent groove in one or both sides of the bar to increase the overall size of the wrapped package without a corresponding increase in weight. As illustrated, the rollers produce an I-section bar f, Fig. 3, in which the recesses have bevelled sides. The bar is severed by the rotary knife d and the pieces delivered laterally by the reciprocating pusher e to a wrapping machine for making up into rectangular box-shaped packages. The receiving table c may tilt as described in Specification 392,990 to avoid interference between the pusher and the advancing stream of material being fed forward for the succeeding cut.
