Rolling-machines; stream-cutting machines.-- In machines, for instance, of the type described in Specification 105,269, [Class 94 (i), Packing &c.], the wheels which feed, shape, and guide a bar of confectionery stock to the wrapping- machine are of such a contour as to produce a bulging of two diametrically opposed sides and corresponding depressions on the other sides, with the object of improving the ultimate shape of the wrapped article. As shown, rollers 5, 6, of the cross-section shown in Fig. 4, feed a bar of stock along a table 12 and vertically downwards through a tubular guideway 14 to a loading station 15. A revolving knife 8 severs pieces from the bar and a plunger 9, Figs. 2 and 3, recessed at 38 to conform to the shape of the severed portion, feeds this portion with a wrapper 20 into a pocket 18 in the carrier wheel 7 of the wrapping-mechanism. One side 19 of the pocket is spring-pressed, and it is stated that the ultimate shape of the severed pieces of confectionery is rendered more truly rectangular by the pressure thereof.
