447,964. Wrapping-machines. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE GES., and SCHLAEPFER, A., Neuhausen, Schaffhausen, Switzerland. Dec. 16, 1935, No. 34901. [Class 94 (i)] [See also Group V] A bar of ice-cream &c., is fed by a continuously running band to a cutter from which the pieces fall on to another similar band to be eventually transferred by grippers to wrappers on a further band. The speeds of the bands and grippers are chosen so as to keep the pieces separate throughout. A bar 1 of ice cream is fed by a feed band 2 against a stop 4, and a cutter 6 severs a portion 8 along the line 7. The stop 4 moves to position 4<1>, allowing the portion to fall on to a second feed band 9, and turning it over into the flat position. The portion 8 moves against a stop 10, which is arranged at such a height from the band 9 that small pieces pass beneath and out of the machine by a shoot 11. The portion against the stop 10 is gripped at the ends by wood-lined grippers 12, pivoted at 18 on a horizontally movable rail 19. The rail 19 moves in a vertically movable guide 22, so that the grippers 12 seize the portion, raise it and move it laterally to a position above a wrapper 13 and release it. The wrapping is effected while the portion moves over a plate 17.
