Abstract

190,520. Day, W. H. Sept. 16, 1921. Packeting by wrapping-up. - Relates to machines, for wrapping-up soap, laundry-blue, jelly, caramels, chocolates, rectangular packages, tins, cartons, &c., and of the type described in Specification 18676/10. The articles are continuously fed through a guiding channel by an endless band 2, Fig. 2, driven from the main shaft of the machine, to a position from which a feeding-member moves them to the mouth of the wrapping-well. The walls of the mouth of the wrapping-well are simultaneously and symmetrically adjustable by a right and left hand screw 91. The folder members are also adjustable, as described in Specification 190,691. The article is depressed by a plunger into the well, the ends of which comprise springs 6, Fig. 6, mounted on brackets 7 adjusted through nuts 8 on a right and left hand screw-shaft 9 rotated by a hand-wheel 10 at the side of the machine. The web is mounted on a paper holder similarly adjustable by a handwheel 11 and is fed by rollers 17 mounted close to a cutting-device and driven intermittently by ratchet gearing. The cutting-device comprises a knife mounted to coact with a cutting-edge with a scissors action. The wrapped articles are expelled from the bottom of the well by a horizontally-acting plunger 80.
