Abstract

In tobacco-feeding mechanism, a transfer member having a tobacco receiving pocket is oscillated between a tobacco receiving position at the outlet of a hopper and a tobacco delivery position and a positively operated knife is movably mounted at one side of the member and is first moved relative to the member at the receiving position to move the knife over the pocket to separate the tobacco in the pocket from that in the hopper and then moves the pocket toward the delivery position where it is opened by movement relative to the knife. The machine described for carrying out the invention is described in Specification 453,768.
