[Class 94 (i)] In machines for wrapping safety razor blades, and in which a scoring block descends upon an inner wrapper superposed upon an outer wrapper. before the application of a blade and subsequent closing, the scoring block is provided with grippers which hold the side flaps of the wrapper against the sides of the block during transfer to a conveyer chain : the outer wrapper 42, Fig. 5, is fed into position beneath the scoring block 91, Fig. 4, after having received gum on one of the end flaps. The inner wrapper 57 is cut from a web by a knife 83 and fed into position on the outer wrapper. The scoring block 91 descends and co-operates with a die 91a to score the wrappers on the lines x, x z, z, at the same time fingers 92, Figs. 4 and 6, close in to hold the flaps b, c against the sides of the die. The block, with the wrappers hold on it, moves to the left, and, upon the fingers opening, the wrappers are deposited on holders 150 on a conveyer chain. The vertical and horizontal movements of the die are obtained by means of a pivoted guide 125, 126 and a lever 142 and link 140. The wrappers are scored by a second block on the lines x, y, to define the flaps d, e and advance to a stage where a razor blade is deposited. The flaps b .. e are folded over by known mechanism and the packets are stacked in a magazine. According to the Provisional Specification the blades may be placed on the wrappers by electromagnetic or suction means, and a feeler may be arranged to operate electromagnetic means to prevent the feed of a wrapper in the absence of a blade and vice versa.
