Abstract

713.106. Moulding confectionery. ROSE BROS (GAINSBOROUGH). Ltd. Dec. 23, 1952 [Nov. 28, 1951], No. 27859/51. Class 87 (2) A rope 12 of toffee is fed by one or more pairs of feed rollers to rollers 13, 14 which form it into a series of rods 17 connected by small portions 18, Fig. 3. The portions 18 are then cut by knives 19 and the separated rods fed to rollers 21, 22 having cavities 24 which shape the rods into individual sweets 25. The sweets are simultaneously severed from the rods by a rotary knife 28. In a modification the knife may reciprocate vertically, cutting operations being performed in each direction. The separated sweets are carried by an intermittently moving conveyer 29 to the mould wheel of a wrapping machine. The conveyer has movable end pieces which move towards each other to close up the gaps between the sweets made by the knives 19.
