Abstract

650,067. Confectionery. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. Feb. 26, 1948, No. 5734. [Class 28(i)] A strip of toffee 11 is indented at 30 by knives 22 which move in radial slots 23 in rotating feed rollers 14. The indented strip 11 is then cut by a rotary knife 16 and the cut pieces removed by a pusher 18 to a wrapping machine. Each of the knives 22 has a pair of rollers 24 which engage in cam grooves 27 formed in a pair of stationary cam members 28. The grooves 27 are so shaped that the knives are restrained from movement until they are adjacent the nip position of the feed rollers. Where the rod is of circular crosssection, three feed rollers are used arranged at equal angular intervals around the rod. (see Fig. 3 (not shown)).
