Abstract

717,936. Moulding confectionery. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. Dec. 24, 1952 [Nov. 28, 1951], No. 27860/51. Class 87 (2). A rod 11 of toffee is fed by rollers 13 to a marking device comprising a pair of oscillating arms 14 having one or a series of knives 19. The rod is fed continuously and as the arms 14 oscillate they are moved by an arm 31 in the direction of movement of and at the same rate as the rod. The rod is severed by a rotatable knife 33 at a position corresponding to one of the indentations formed by the knives 19. A severed length 34 is fed to a platform 36 from which it is transferred to the pocket of a wheel 37 of a wrapping machine. In a modification, the rod may be moved intermittently, the arms 14 then being oscillated only.
