641,362. Cooking &c. anti-adhesion materials. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. Oct. 23, 1947, No. 28334. [Class 28(i)] [Also in Group XVII] In apparatus for manipulating toffee and other confectionery substances, a part or parts of the apparatus that are adapted to come into direct contact with the substances are formed from or covered with polytetrafluorethylene. In the construction shown applied to a toffee-wrapping machine the pockets of a feed wheel 13 for the toffees 11 are lined with inserts 12 of polytetrafluorethylene. A plunger 14 for transferring the toffees from the pockets of the feed wheel to a pocket wheel 16 is tipped at 24 with polytetrafluorethylene. A wrapper 17 is fed by grippers 19 and severed from a web by cutters 18 and is transferred to the pocket by the toffee 11. A member 21 which is operative to detect the presence of a toffee in the pockets of the wheel 13 is faced with polytetrafluorethylene. This material may also be used to line moulding dies and plungers used for moulding sweets from toffee &c.
