1311840 Cutting material in plastic state C H AQUARIUS 14 Oct 1971 [14 Oct 1970] 47950/71 Heading B5A Apparatus for cutting pieces from a continuously fed string of candy 8 comprises a rotary cylinder 1, with circumferentially spaced cavities 3 and knives 5, which co-operates with a roller 6 with a resilient surface and freely rotatable on a shaft 7. The string is fed to the nip between the cylinder and roller and the driven cylinder causes the knives to engage the roller surface and cut pieces from the string, such pieces being received in the cavities and conveyed to a position above transfer blocks 11 into which they are delivered by spring-loaded plungers 12. The latter encounter a stationary arm 14 which urges them outwardly. The roller shaft 7 is supported by a lever 17 pivoted at 18 and held in a desired position by a bolt extending through a slot 19.
